Choir scoops £2k grant

A COMMUNITY choir can sing songs of praise after scooping a grant from Daventry and District Housing (DDH).

Elation Community Voices choir from Long Buckby received £2,000 for taking part in a team-building day for managers.

In a one day competition 40 directors and managers created business plans and a boardroom-style pitch on behalf of projects from the local community.

Their efforts were then judged by an independent panel.

Vince Collins, Elation’s musical director, said: “The team I worked with showed outstanding enthusiasm. We’re delighted with the win and honoured to have taken part in such a great event.”

Rita Coe, assistant director of corporate services at Futures Housing Group, said: “We want to put something back into the community and doing it this way means boost the skills and confidence of our team at the same time.”

The day was part of DDH’s corporate social responsibility programme and commitment to people development.
