Card money for charity
A CHARITY Christmas card competition, organised through the Daventry Express, has raised more than £250.
The cards were designed by East Haddon Primary School pupils Isabella Carroll and Gemma Grace, from Braunston Primary School.
They went on sale around the town after Daventry-based printers JR Press donated all the print costs of the cards to help contribute towards the competition.
In total £253 was raised and all proceeds have been donated to Pete Spencer’s Helping Hands Memorial Fund, which helps support local children with serious conditions and disabilities.
Ian Spencer, who runs the charity, said: “A very big thank you to Geoff and all the team at JR Press, the outlets that sold the cards and to all the people who purchased them.
“The money raised will be of great benefit.”
Geoff Fone, from JR Press, added: “I’ve known Ian for about 15 or 20 years now and I knew his dad who set up the charity.
“I think it’s a wonderful cause and we were delighted to participate and help.”
