The application is to convert land to the west of the A5 close to the canal bridge into a residential site with one mobile home, one pitch for a touring caravan and the conversion of an existing building into a day room.

The proposal was put to members of Daventry District Council’s planning committee on Wednesday evening last week.

In a chamber filled with representatives from the parish councils of Stowe IX Churches, Weedon and Flore, along with several residents, the councillors on the committee were tied when it came to voting on granting planning permission.

In the end the tie was broken by chairman Cllr Steve Osborne voting in favour of the scheme.
