VICTORIAN costumes were donned and traditional food was served at Canons Ashby at the weekend.

The free Victorian harvest event drew in more than 1,000 visitors to the estate which was themed throughout.

Costumed characters were also placed around the manor house for a real-life effect.

Visitor Experience Manager Laura Malpas said: “We all love pretending that we live here back in the old days, and getting dressed up in Victorian costume makes it feel so real. Some of our visitors dressed up too, which was lovely.

“The weekend was a huge success.”

Visitors had the chance to press their own freshly harvest apple juice as well as giving archery a go with the help of Red Rose Archers.

A traditional harvest meal prepared by busy cooks in the kitchens was also available for guests to try along with an old piano to have a go on.
