Call for action after two serious crashes in Daventry

TWO more serious accidents on a notorious Daventry road have prompted fresh calls for action from councillors in the town.
The crashes on Sunday morning both took place along the same stretch of road, although it has three separate names – Badby Road West, Tyne Road and Thames Road.
On Thames Road Robert Pejas, from the Headlands, lost his life, and on Badby Road West a car crashed into a lamppost, two stone walls, and a fence before smashing into two parked cars.
Cllr Wendy Randall, who represents the area on Daventry District Council, said: “When I was first elected people asked me to try and do something about these roads. I spoke to the county council who said there was no money.
“Obviously we don’t know what caused the two crashes on Sunday, but they’re not the first along these roads.”
For full details on both crashes, including an interview with the family of the driver who died on Thames Road, and more from the Badby Road West crash including a photo of the aftermath, see the Daventry Express.
