Bin collection delays possible in Daventry district over coming days

Waste and recycling collections could be disrupted for some households in Daventry and surrounding villages this Friday and possibly into the Bank Holiday weekend.

Daventry District Council’s waste and recycling contractor Amey will suspend some collection rounds at 1pm on Friday, to enable members of staff to attend the funeral of their colleague, Kane Beard.

Mr Beard died in a tragic incident during bin collections in Ashby Road, Daventry on Friday, April 8.

Collections will resume on Saturday, April 30, including collection from outstanding Friday properties. It is anticipated there may be some disruption to services over the weekend as crews catch up on their rounds. Collections may also take place at a different time of the day.

Residents who do not receive their scheduled collection are asked to leave their bins and boxes out or.

There is no need to report a missed collection during this period, unless it has still not been emptied by Tuesday morning (May 3).

Daventry District Council’s chief executive Ian Vincent said: “We thank residents for their patience and understanding in these exceptional circumstances and will be working with our contractor Amey to do everything possible to ensure disruption is minimised and it catches up on affected collections.”
