Bar in Daventry forced to close early

A BAR in Daventry has been forced to close at 11pm in the wake of licence breaches and disorder.

The No.1 Pizza and Fish Bar in North Street, Daventry had an alcohol licence until midnight and was able to serve late night refreshment between 11pm and 3am.

But at a hearing today (Thursday), Daventry District Council’s licensing committee revoked the premises licence.

This means the business can no longer sell alcohol and hot food cannot be sold after 11pm, effectively closing the business at that time.

The bar operator has three weeks from today to lodge an appeal to magistrates so the premises can trade under it’s original licence until then.

Sergeant Mark Worthington, of Northamptonshire’s Nightsafe and Licensing team, said: “This decision send outs a strong message to other licensed premises that firm action will be taken against those premises where breaches are reported.”
