Baize of glory for sporting fundraisers

A TEAM of snooker and pool players are getting set for a marathon fundraiser.
Adrian Billingham, Dean Ainsworth, Chris Buckley and Stephen Mahony will be playing snooker and pool for 24 hours starting on January 11 in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Paul Hunter Foundation.
Mr Billingham said: “The idea is for Dean to play pool continuously and for the rest of us to rotate so we have a pool table going all the time, and a snooker one too.
“One of my friend’s kids was in Great Ormond Street for a while and we were looking for something to do to raise money and this looked like something achievable.
“The Paul Hunter Foundation was created in his memory after he died. He was a professional snooker player and we all enjoy watching snooker on the TV.
“The foundation set up in his memory helps disadvantaged children get involved in sport and socialise as well.
“The money will be divided equally between the two charities.
“Unfortunately because we’re doing it for the two charities, we can’t set up an online sponsorship site.
“We’re doing it at Slim Jim’s club in Sheaf Street and sponsor forms will be behind the bar.”
