American diner opens its doors next week

A MUCH-ANTICIPATED new American diner opens its doors in Daventry next week.

Buddies opens for business at 5pm on Thursday after months of work to transform the former unit of Elliot’s Butchers in High Street.

The restaurant chain is known for offering the authentic US dining experience against a backdrop of iconic New York images, TV screens showing American footage and a high-rail American locomotive.

Company Secretary, Terry York, said: It is a nice concept and something different. I am sure it will be a good attribute to the town.”

As well as creating 25 jobs, the company is also already making ties in the community sponsoring Daventry Town under 10s football kits as well as buying local produce.

Staff at the diner have taken 14 weeks preparing for the opening.

Mr York said: “We took our time in opening, we weren’t under any pressure to open quicker we just wanted to get it exactly right.

“I am quite relaxed about the opening and won’t be having a grand opening, instead, Buddies will open its doors on Thursday and get straight into it.”

Mr York said it was the site and location that brought Buddies to the area and that the staff have high hopes for the diner.

He added: “The big plus with Daventry is the free parking. People don’t like to have to rush their meals and pay for parking and Daventry doesn’t have that, I am looking forward to trading here.”

The restaurant, which has a 20-year lease, will hold up to 80 diners in its large American booths.

This is the latest Buddies to open in the county with others in Towcester, Rushton and Northampton.

It willl open seven days a week, 11.30am to 10pm Monday to Thursday, 11.30am until late on Fridays, 9am to 10.30pm on Saturdays and 9am to 9pm on Sundays.
