THE Woodford Halse Country Fair drew in the crowds to the hamlet of West Farndon on Saturday.

Debbis Jarvis, one of the organising committee, said: “We were worried people might be a bit ‘jubileed out’, and then we also had worries over the weather.

“But the weather was fine and lots of people came along. It was a great success for us.

“The fair was raising money for our parish church – St Mary The Virgin. Specifically for the organ which is beyond repair and needs completely replacing.

“Highlights included a classic car rally with vintage tractors and racing bikes too.

“There was a battle of the bands featuring up-and-coming groups from Towcester and Daventry Rock Schools.

That was followed by live music from a band called Dogstooth.

“There were also games, stalls and traditional things like teas and a tombola.

“We had run the event annually and it’s grown and grown. We always try to have something new to keep it interesting, and one of those things was Animal Edu-Tainment this year.

“They brought along 15 animals, including reptiles, which children could pick up and hold and find out more about them as well.”
