The Mini-Adventure and Wicked Wednesday events run throughout the school holidays, offering workshops and activities for between £1 and £2 per session.

From orienteering and wildlife sessions at Daventry Country Park, to water Zorbing in the pool at Daventry Leisure Centre, the sessions aim to offer something for everyone.

Mondays will see the return of the Mini-Adventures at Daventry Country Park, at a cost of £1 per child. Sessions run from 10am to midday and include wildlife challenges and craft activities on July 25, August 8 and August 22, and Xplorer Orienteering navigation challenge on August 1 and 15. There is no need to book a place – just turn up at the visitor centre wearing suitable clothing and footwear.

Wicked Wednesdays offer a variety of weekly sessions at Daventry Leisure Centre for children aged five to 12 years at a cost of £2 per person.

There’s a chance to try water Zorbing and enjoy inflatables in the pool on July 27 and August 17, a Mad Science workshop on August 3 and a roller disco on August 10 and 24.

There are two sessions each day, starting at 1pm and 2.40pm (2.30pm for the Mad Science Workshop) which are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and can be booked in advance on 01327 871100. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Children under seven and non-swimmers taking part in water zorbing must be supervised in the pool (one adult to two children), children aged over eight eight must be supervised by an adult at the poolside.

Councillor Alan Hills, Daventry District Council’s Community, Culture and Leisure Portfolio Holder, said: “It can be difficult to keep young ones entertained over the summer holidays so our summer programme aims to offer a variety of activities to keep children active without breaking the bank.

“I would invite families to take advantage of these sessions and have a brilliant time. Wicked Wednesdays in particular always prove extremely popular so make sure you book your place as soon as possible.”
