The county library service has won an award for its service and customer satisfaction.
LibraryPlus, the name for Northamptonshire County Council’s library service, won the Best Council Services Team category in this year’s 2014 Municipal Journal awards.
The service was the only public library service to be shortlisted across all categories.
Judges said LibraryPlus won because they recognised its achievements for providing an improved service and proven customer satisfaction despite ongoing financial challenges, and described it as a model for others.
Cllr Robin Brown, cabinet member for public health and wellbeing, said: “Congratulations to everyone in the library service, including both staff and our many volunteers, on winning this prestigious award.
“It’s an endorsement of the excellent work that has been carried out by the team to keep all of our libraries open, improve services and opening hours, all against the backdrop of very challenging financial times.”
