A COUPLE from Daventry are preparing to pound the streets of London to raise thousands of pounds for charity.
Mark Heycock, 47, and his fianceé Melanie Cotton, 37, will run the London Marathon for SENSE, a charity that supports people who are deaf and blind.
The couple live in Middlewitch Close on Lang Farm and are hoping to raise £3,000 by running the gruelling 26.2 miles on Sunday, April 17.
Mr Heycock, who’s a director at Campbells estate agents in Daventry, said: “Melanie knows someone who is partially blind and I know some people from my time in the Army who have been helped by SENSE so we decided to support the charity.
“We are doing quite a heavy training programme, going to the gym three times a week and running twice a week with a long run on Sundays. We’ve never run a full marathon before but we are looking forward to it.”
