A CENTENARIAN celebrated turning 100 this week with her husband at her side.
Irene Holman, who reached the landmark on Monday, lives at Wheatsheaf Court care home in Daventry.
She has been married for 61 years to husband Reg Holman, 89, who was there to mark the special occasion.
Mr Holman said: “We’ve had a very happy marriage and it’s lovely that Irene has celebrated her 100th birthday.
“Even until four years ago she was enjoying a whisky and lemonade at night and a sherry in the morning.
“Her greatest love is animals. She did a post round for 16 years and always carried dog biscuits around. She also used to feed the birds and loves all wildlife.”
Mrs Holman was born in Brackley and the couple never had any children. She also worked on munition in Coventry during the Second World War.
