The Friends of Danetre Hospital have given a new electrocardiogram (ECG) machine to the clinics at Danetre Hospital.

The new machine replaces one of around 20 years old, and will be used by the various clinics run at the London Road hospital.

Community cardiologist Dr Helen Binns said: “It’s a great machine. We can now easily compare ECGs over time, a whole range of patients will be using it, and it makes the job of nurses and doctors here easier too.”

Lots of people hate going to Northampton for clinics or treatment – if I organise a cardiac clinic in Daventry it will be booked up very quickly, and people will wait four weeks to come to Danetre rather than go to Northampton sooner.

“Having tests done, getting treatment or diagnoses can be stressful for patients, and I think because Danetre is not a big scary hospital, lots of people feel better coming here.”

The Friends of Danetre Hospital raise money to provide equipment to Danetre Hospital that improves the experience of patients, and eases the workload on staff.
