Hundreds turn up at station for police open day

FAMILIES got to find out a little bit about life behind bars at Daventry Police Station on Saturday.

The station on New Street held a family open day featuring custody tours, finger print taking and face painting.

People were also able to find out about plans to tackle antisocial behaviour and sign up for the special constabulary if they wish to help.

Children were also able to sit in police vehicles and take part in various competitions.

Daventry and South Northants Chief Inspector Mark Taylor said: “It was a brilliant day for. Several hundred people came along to find out a bit more about what we do, and about 300 of those were given a tour of our custody cells.”
