DAVENTRY Choral Society gave up their time to help sing away the rain on a wet Saturday on Daventry Town’s Sheaf Street.

The event took place to help raise money for Pete Spencer’s Helping Hands Memorial Fund.

Vice chairman and business manager of the choir Gill Jackson said: “Despite the freezing conditions over half of our members turned out and sang carols for what is a great local cause.

“We were really pleased with the day’s events and grateful to all those who took part and to those who generously donated money to Helping Hands.”

The choir, which sang for up to an hour, have previously sung with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Northampton Bach Choir as well as Beethoven’s Choral Symphony.

It will also be appearing at an event tomorrow (Friday) to welcome guests arriving at the Barcelo International Hotel.
