Residents have the chance to influence the design of a piece of art to be installed on the A425 South Way/Abbey Street roundabout.
Artist Tim Ward, from Essex, was chosen in June to lead on the project and will now meet with members of the public over the next few weeks to get their views and ideas to create the piece.
Mr Ward will be at the Daventry town council offices in New Street tomorrow (Friday) for the arts festival’s embroiderers guild event, from 10am to 3pm. He will be at the Family Cinema Day event at Daventry Country Park from noon to 4pm on July 27. He will also be at the leisure centre at the arts and crafts ‘Wicked Wednesday’ event from noon to 3pm on July 31.
Community, culture and leisure portfolio holder at DDC, Cllr Alan Hills, said: “We would ideally like the art to be inspired by something of historical relevance to the town but it may well be that people have other ideas.”
The artwork has been funded by Ashford Developments which gave £10,000 to DDC for a piece of artwork as part of the planning obligations for the Abbey retail park. An additional grant of up to £5,000 is being sought from the Arts Council.
