DAVENTRY’S hospital will open its doors to the public on Saturday, November 12.
People can go along to Danetre Hospital, in London Road, between 10am and 2pm and find out more about the services offered there.
Matron Rita Reeves says: “We are extremely proud of our local hospital and the care and treatments we provide. Although the new building has now been open for five years we are aware that not everyone will be familiar with our services.
“The invitation to this open event is about letting people know what we do so that they can make informed choices of where they can receive treatment and care.”
The hospital provides a range of services, among which are inpatient treatments, rehabilitation and palliative care, day surgery, x-ray, dental and podiatry services, plus speech and language therapy.
Rita Reeves says: “The Open Day is also a celebration of achievements at Danetre. The services here are now mainly managed by Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust and Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust.
“This has provided the opportunity for further integration of services, enabling a more seamless approach across acute and primary care to promote the support of patients in the right setting at the right time.”
A big part of the success at Danetre has been the continuing support of the Friends Of Danetre. Arthur Pritchett, the friends’ secretary said: “Friends of Danetre was set up as a charity in 1997 to enhance the provision of care and equipment to patients and staff at Danetre Hospital and its associated partners
“Since then, we have raised more than £150,000 which has been used to provide additional equipment, training and support to staff and patients in all areas of the hospital.
“We have been massively supported by the generosity of grateful patients and their relatives, and it is that generosity that has allowed us to do as much as we have.
“A testimony to the level of care and compassion demonstrated by the staff is highlighted by the hundreds of messages of thanks and support I receive from relatives and organisations who value highly the dedicated attention given to the sick and injured.
“Individual outcomes are sometimes sad, but many of the comments I get reflect the warmth and humanity delivered by the staff members. Many of the visitors to our shop comment on how wonderfully their loved ones are looked after, often in difficult circumstances. Thanks must also go to our magnificent band of volunteers who help us make all the effort worthwhile, and the contributions have allowed us to make a difference.”
The open day will also provide the opportunity to promote the friends’ work and there will be Christmas gifts and cards on sale as well as a cake stall, a sale of household items and a Christmas raffle.
The hospital restaurant, which is open to the public as well as hospital visitors and patients, will be available for refreshments on the day.
