A GREAT-GRANDMOTHER has celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday in the hall where she spent her first day at school.

Connie Kirton, above, of Pattishall, was joined by 40 members of her family and friends for a party in Cold Higham Hall in Cold Higham.

Mrs Kirton, who has two sons, six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, enjoyed a buffet, a birthday cake and catching up with relatives who were visiting from Canada.

She said: “It’s really nice to see my family who live in Canada. I’m so glad they could be here.

“I remember this hall from when I was four years old on my first day at Cold Higham Infant School here.”
