OUTDOOR adventurers were given licence to go wild at a special Bushcraft Day.

Youngsters enjoyed a range of activities at Daventry Country Park on Sunday including camping skills, building shelters and lighting fires.

The day, organised by not-for-profit group The Empowered Project, began with staff issuing instructions before staging outdoor skills sessions. There are also plans to run more bushcraft and kayaking sessions in future.

Project Manager Dylan Jones said he hopes young people will continue to get involved in the project but also hopes they take advantage of the opportunity to become young leaders with the project in future.

He said: “We will be looking to develop the skills and knowledge of participants so that they can become trainee leaders and in time leaders who will help to run other outdoor sessions.”

Young people can get involved in both weekend activities and in leadership training. Contact gowild_dcp@yahoo.co.uk, 07066 290 455 or www.theempoweredproject.org.
