A DAVENTRY woman has organised a charity social evening to raise cash to take part in the London Marathon.
Claire Clayton, who lives at Middlewich Close on Lang Farm, will be doing the race to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Her son, Charlie, aged 11, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of five.
She has organised the evening which will take place at Daventry Working Men’s Club.
There will be music from a band called The Element along with dancing lessons from Kate Fisher along with a raffle and tombola. The evening will take place from 7pm to 11.30pm on Friday, February 18.
Mrs Clayton said: “It can cause blindness and kidney failure so if I can do anything I can to help than that is great.”
She needs to raise £1,750 in to take part in the Marathon.
Mrs Clayton added: “I just want to thank all the businesses that have helped me put on this social evening.”
Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for under 16. They can be bought from Jeeves in the High Street, Hair and the Rest at the Abbey Retail Park, Daventry Working Men’s Club or email firstname.lastname@example.org. To sponsor her visit uk.virginmoneygiving.com/claire-clayton.
