YOUNGSTERS braved heavy rain and winds to take part in the annual cross country race organised by Woodford Halse Primary School.

Hundreds of children from 32 schools took part in the event on Wednesday last week, the 21st time the school has hosted it.

There was success for Towcester’s Nicholas Hawksmoor Primary School pupils who won the boys’ and girls’ A race.

In the Boys’ B race, it was Byfield Primary School who emerged victorious and Preston Hedges Primary School in Northampton triumphed in the Girls’ B race.

Headteacher for Woodford Halse Primary School Mike Wills said: “I was so pleased with the determination shown by all of the children to carry on going despite the weather.

“It was an absolutely fantastic event even though there were showers. Thank you to everyone for all of the support they have given us and will look forward to seeing you all next year.”
