RESIDENTS and businesses in Daventry can join in the first ever global waste electrical and electronic equipment collection day on Saturday.
Sims Recycling Solutions, next to Hankook Tyres on the town’s Heartlands business park will be accepting electrical items for recycling.
Daventry site manager Keith Stevens said: “People may be surprised to learn one tonne of electrical and electronic waste contains around 100 grams of gold. Or that it is 65 per cent more energy efficient to reuse copper than to use copper smelted from virgin ore.”
People who take items along will be entered into a free prize draw for an Apple iPad2 and the first 50 people will receive a £10 gift voucher.
