A PIECE of the English Riviera will be coming to Daventry town centre.
Daventry By The Sea is once again being staged in the town by the Daventry Business Partnership to give shoppers the chance to enjoy all the best bits of a British seaside holiday without having to leave the district.
For four days starting on Wednesday, August 10, the top of Sheaf Street, will be transformed into a seaside playground with a sandy ‘beach’, deck chairs and ice creams.
On the Wednesday there will be children’s funfair rides, then on the Thursday and Friday people can take a free donkey ride along the ‘beach’.
Finally, on the Saturday there will be Punch and Judy shows to keep the crowds entertained.
On top of all that, just like with all the best beach holidays, visitors will be able to make sand castles with the kids (buckets and spades will be provided) or kickback on a deck chair with something good to read.
There will also be seaside amusements and ice cream.
The beach will be open from 10am to 4pm each day.
Sally Halson, partnership manager, said: “This is a fantastic way to give everyone the chance to enjoy the beach during the school holidays.
“The event is always popular with younger children who spend hours making sand castles and playing.”
This is the third year the event has been staged in Daventry and it is designed to draw more people into the town centre to benefit local businesses and to also provide something extra for regular shoppers.
