THE safety of pedestrians on Lodge Road in Daventry is being reviewed after residents and councillor’s fear the road is a ‘rat-run’.
County Highways engineers are now looking at measures to increase the safety of pedestrians using the roads to enter DDC offices and the matter has been refereed to the Roads Joint Action Group for further investigation. Previously police have taken enforcement action on the road.
Cllr Chris Long believes there is an accident waiting to happen on the road which he has raised his concerns about previously. He met with county highways on Friday to see what could be done.
He said: “I have raised this subject on a number of previous occasions in the past two years.
“Perhaps we can implement changes before someone is injured or worse as opposed to having to deal with the consequences of not acting.
“If residents have any opinion’s regarding Lodge Road and the safety of pedestrians crossing it I would like to hear views. I can be contacted on email@example.com.”
