THE petition to help save DACT (Daventry Area Community Transport) is gathering momentum with more than 5,000 signatures now collected.

The service, which provides taxis and buses for elderly and disabled people across the Daventry district, could potentially have be cut if its £31,000 grant from Northamptonshire County Council is cancelled next year.

Daventry’s McDonald’s restaurant on Vicar Lane is one place where people can sign the petition.

Franchise manager Glyn Pashley said: “We realise how valuable this service is to the wider community and would urge people across Daventry to come and sign the petition.”
