A charity fashion show held in memory of a much-loved mother has raised £1,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The event organised by Judith Ogden and her daughter Harriet, who run Magpies Dress Agency, took place at Crick Village Hall and.

Judith wanted to do something to help the charity after losing her mother Thelma Dahl to Alzheimer’s in November.

Thelma, who lived in Bilton, was 76 when she died.

“It’s such a cruel disease,” said Judith, who launched her business in Church Street, Crick, a year ago.

“To see my mum go from a healthy, outgoing lady to just a shell of a person had a profound effect on all the family. It’s absolutely devastating.”

Now she is raising funds and awareness and was thrilled with the success of her fashion show.

Judith said: “We couldn’t do anything last year with mum being so ill, so we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do something.

“To see how many people came to the fashion show was overwhelming and I would like to thank everyone who supported it, helping to raise an amazing amount of money for the Alzheimer’s Society.”

“We had a professional DJ, lighting and catwalk runway staging all donated for the charity.”

Magpies Dress Agency in Church Street is a ladieswear store in Grade II listed premises that have recently been refurbished.

Judith said: “The business is going really well and it’s great to be celebrating a year. I would like to say a big thanks to everyone.”
