THE latest in a series of booklets looking at a village during First World War will be launched at an exhibition later this month.

The photo exhibition is on Sunday, March 23 at Eydon Village Hall and has been published by the village’s historical research group.

The exhibition manager Sonia Hawes said: “In this year when there is so much in the media about the Great War we wanted to focus on the local contribution made.

“Our exhibitions appeal to established residents, those who have recently moved into the village and visitors from far and wide,

“People like to study the pictures and talk to group members and enjoy some tea and cake. They can often contribute further information which is always welcome.

“People may not know that we had an Eydon Lady who was involved with the Royal Flying Corps, or about the visit from the King. There is information about the men who went to war from Eydon, knowing a little about them and seeing their photographs makes the reading of the names on the War Memorial more poignant.”

The photographic exhibition runs from 2pm to 4pm. Admission is free but the cost of the book is £5.

Teas will be on sale as well as all the publications the group has produced over the past few years and Syd Tyrrell’s Eydon, the second Tyrrell book which was edited by the group and is on offer.
