Events set to spark real interest in fireworks fun

IT will be eyes to the skies next month with a number of fun fireworks displays organised across the Daventry area.

Following the success of last year’s event in the town where 9,000 people turned out for the event at Borough Hill, both the town council and district council in Daventry have joined forces to put on the display.

Last year’s display was the first in the town for four years.

Organisers hope to repeat the success from last year despite a change of venue.

Daventry Town Council’s administration and communications officer, Lynn Scott, said: “The access for Borough Hill was not ideal so we have moved the event to the Eastern Way Playing Field.

“The road will be closed for the display and it will give us a much bigger arena to put it on. It will also be set to music.”

The event will take place on Saturday, November 3 and will be open from 6pm with the display starting at 7.30pm.

There will be street entertainers and refreshments as part of the free event with the display put together by Amazing Fireworks.

On the run up to the big night Amazing Fireworks will also hold a demonstration evening.

The free event will showcase their best fireworks and celebrate 15 years of business in Daventry.

Potential customers can see fireworks in action before they buy them at the Mayfield Park Sports Club on October 10.

The display will begin at 7.30pm but will be open from 7pm with a bar on site and food available.

There will also be the opportunity to pre-order fireworks at a discounted rate on the night.

Organisers will be looking for feedback on the best fireworks so those who complete a ‘score card’ on the night will also be entered into a prize draw.

Richard Glover, from Amazing Fireworks, said: “We are looking forward to showing our customers some old favourites and exciting new material we have selected for bonfire night this year.

“It is a great chance for everyone to see the products in action.”

Other forthcoming fireworks events include a display and torch lit parade on Brodie Lodge playing field in Flore on Saturday November 3.

A display at Blakesley and Brampton Halt in Northampton on Friday November 2.

A display at the Parklands community centre in Northampton on Saturday November 3.

And a display at the home of the gunpowder plot, the Olde Coach Inn in Ashby St Ledgers, is on Monday November 5.
