THE VAST majority of schools in the Daventry area could be closed later this month as teachers go on strike.
It comes as the National Union of Teachers will be joining strikes by the TUC on Wednesday, November 30 as a dispute over changes to teachers’ pensions rumble on.
They could be joined by other unions who are currently balloting members. The Association of Teachers and Lecturers and the National Association of Headteachers is likely to announce the results of their vote next week.
The teachers trade union NASUWT is also asking members to vote with a decision due to be made later this month.
A previous strike held in July saw one in four schools across the Daventry area closed as teachers took action over changes to pensions.
