The children at Headstart Day Nursery in Daventry got a lesson in caring for animals this week as part of national pet month this March.

Letitia Piggott from Zoo labs brought a tarantula, snail, crab, toad, corn snake, rat and a stick insect in to visit the children and taught them how to treat animals with care and sensitivity. She also helped the children to relate life processes to animals and plants found in the local environment, to group living things according to observable differences and similarities and to recognise and compare the main external parts of the body of humans and other animals.
