THE school league tables revealed by the government have shown five village schools in the Daventry area achieved top marks.
The primary schools in Welton, Staverton, East Haddon, Aston le Walls and Naseby all had 100 per cent of pupils achieve the expected level of English and maths in this year’s SATs tests.
The top performing school in the town was Ashby Fields Primary School which saw 82 per cent of youngsters reach the expected standard, an improvement of four per cent from last year’s tests.
But elsewhere the news was less rosy. Southbrook Junior School finished second bottom of the league tables in the county with only 33 per cent reaching the expected standards.
