DAVENTRY District Council is closed over Christmas and New Year from Tuesday, December 25 and will reopen on Wednesday, January 2.
The decision to close non-essential and back office services and require employees to take leave from their existing entitlement for the three working days between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day is in response to low demand for services during this period.
Essential services, such as waste and recycling collections and street cleaning, will continue throughout the Christmas and New Year period. There will also continue to be arrangements in place in the event of an emergency.
The council’s offices in Lodge Road will be closed from noon on Christmas Eve, with telephone lines remaining open until 4.30pm. Lines will remain open over Christmas for waste and recycling queries. The offices will reopen from 8.30am on Wednesday, January 2 with telephone lines open as normal at 9am.
The Abbey Centre in St John’s Square will close to the public on Christmas Eve at 5.30pm, reopening at 9am on January 2.
