A school in Daventry has been celebrating after receiving a rating of ‘good with outstanding features’ rating from Ofsted this week.

Falconer’s Hill Infant School in Ashby Road was given the verdict following an inspection from the Government body.

The school’s headteacher, Coleen Wilkins, said: “We are delighted, especially for the praise for cases where the children come here below average standards
and then they leave above average. I was also really pleased with what was said about the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

“The Ofsted inspector said he had never seen as many positive comments from parents as he had from this inspection.”

The school was last visited by Ofsted in 2008 when it was judged to be outstanding with the visit taking place on September 11 and 12.

Mrs Wilkins added: “The inspection regime has changed dramatically and we were being judged on a harder regime than the schools last year.

“We had also only been back five days when they came and we are in the midst of major building work.

“I feel the school has moved forward and become better in the last five years. If the pupils are below average when they come and above average afterwards, for me that is outstanding.”
