A new exhibition opened up at Daventry Museum on Saturday giving residents an insight into the town’s rural past.

Curator Rod Viveash and his team of volunteers worked throughout the Christmas period to assemble a wide number of artefacts, photos and other records for a series of displays on rural life including mills, tools and implements, canals and hunting and shooting.

A number of objects including a milk yolk and a percussion lock shotgun were offered by residents, private collectors and museums, while the volunteers have been actively researching the history of the district’s windmills.
