With just under two weeks to go, five Scouts from the Daventry area will be participating in the adventure of a lifetime, spending just over two weeks in Japan.

Alasdair Rolt (2nd Braunston) Jordan Simpson-Brown (2nd Daventry) Hannah Watkins (Ashby Fields) and Tom King (Ashby Fields), along with Millie Potts (Crick and West Haddon, not pictured) will leave on Friday July 24, for the 23rd World Scout Jamboree.

Alasdair Rolt said: “It’s getting really close now and although I am nervous, I am really excited”

Hannah Watkins only knew that she was going at the end of May when another member of the contingent had to pull out. She said: “I was absolutely shocked that I had been chosen to go. I am really excited about it and can’t wait.”

Malcolm Dyer, contingent leader, said: “Hannah, who only just missed out on selection originally, jumped at the chance. Her sister, father and grandfather have all been to jamborees in the past, so you can probably guess how excited she is to be given this chance”.

More than 160,000 scouts are expected at the jamboree from around the world.
