There were some brave souls on Saturday handing their safety over to gravity and the Welton Soapbox Derby course.

On Saturday about 40 different vehicles took on the challenge of the village course, starting at the White Horse pub then heading downhill past the church and through a 90 degree left-hander.

The winners were – in the eight to 11 years category The Wilson Flyer, driven by Dylan Wilson, for the 12 to 15 years Take Three, driven by Morgan Cowley, and Take Three, driven by Jamie Blake, also won the 16+ years group plus the overall fastest time.

Best Creativity was jointly won by Boaty McBoat Face and Where’s the ceiling fan gone?.

The fastest through the speed trap was Team Streamline from the Isle of Wight who hit 32mph.
