A DOZEN people have so far been arrested in police raids across Daventry today (Thursday, August 25).
Officers have been out in force in certain areas of the town and nearby villages following an alleged attack on a couple at Mountbatten House, on Daventry’s Southbrook estate on Friday evening last week.
All the arrests have been made under section two of the Public Order Act which deals with violent disorder.
Sgt Sam Dobbs, who is leading the action, said: “We have now arrested 12 people in connection with the incident and we anticipate making more.
“Anybody who has been captured on the building’s CCTV will have to account for their presence there.
“All those arrested are being given stringent bail conditions, including a 7pm to 7am curfew.
“There will be extra patrols on the Southbrook estate, over the bank holiday weekend to perpetuate the message that we mean what we say.”
