TWO women from a lettings agency in Daventry chased after thieves who stole a mobile phone from their offices.
A man and two women went into Chelton Brown in Market Square, Daventry at 5pm on Monday asking for directions to Luton airport. The three held their thumbs up to each other, said thank you to the staff and left quickly.
Nadine Lindsay, property manager at Chelton Brown, looked out of the window and saw the three when colleague Andrea Butterworth noticed her iPhone had been stolen.
Both staff members ran after the trio and caught them up at the Chapel Lane car park behind Fridays where Ms Lindsay demanded the phone was returned, and it was.
They are now warning other businesses in Daventry to be careful if the three people come back into the store.
Mrs Butterworth, lettings manager, said: “I didn’t think anything about going after them. It was just instinct.”
“We were so mad after what had happened and we went out. When we caught them up, Nadine simply demanded the phone back and they handed it over.”
Ms Lindsay added: “We went to see if they were outside after they had left, and saw them and gave chase. We caught up with them at the Chapel Lane car park.
“Thinking about it, it could have been very dangerous, but we were just reacting to what happened and the first thought was to get the mobile phone back.”
Police have said arrests have been made in connection with the theft of a phone from Chelton Brown offices.
