Man faces sentence for child sex assault

A Daventry man has been branded “disgusting” after being convicted by a jury at Oxford Crown Court of child sex assaults.

James Phipps, 59, of Primrose Hill in Daventry, was found guilty after a trial of two counts of indecent assault and two counts of gross indecency with a child at Oxford Crown Court on Friday July 23. The victims cannot be identified for legal reasons.One of Phipps’ victims took the stand and gave evidence on Tuesday last week. She told the court: “He was disgusting. He’s a disgusting excuse for a man.”

Phipps was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register and was granted bail until his sentence at Oxford Crown Court on September 9.
