Man arrested over armed robbery at Daventry district food store

Staff at a Northamptonshire food store were threatened by masked robbers, who made off with cash, cigarettes and wine.

The robbery happened at the Co-op store in Hunters’ Way, Brixworth at about 5.30am on Saturday.

It is understood that the men were carrying some sort of weapons, which police have said were not guns.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: “We were called following reports that shop staff had been threatened by two masked men who stole cash, cigarettes and wine.

“A man was subsequently arrested and released on police bail while investigations continue.

“Witnesses, or anyone who knows anything about this incident, can call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
