A 38-year-old man has admitted stabbing his dog to death in a Daventry park.
Steven Cook, of Greenhill Crescent, Daventry, appeared at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a shih tzu named Ronnie.
The court heard that Cook took the dog to Spider Park in Daventry on August 23 this year and attacked him with a knife.
Ronnie was found by a member of the public shortly after the attack and was taken to a vets. However, he died later the same day due to the severity of his injuries.
Cook will be sentenced at a hearing at Northampton Magistrates’ Court in January.
