A GARAGE door fitter has been landed with a £69,683 bill for lying to clients and failing to deliver on his promises.
Gary Allbones, 59, who trades as Gary Allbones Garage Doors, was jailed for 10 months in February for running a fraudulent business.
He failed to deliver orders paid for in advance or delivered the garage doors months late, and 18 disgruntled customers eventually gave evidence against him.
Allbones, of West Way in Weedon, then claimed to be a victim of a conspiracy by Northamptonshire County Council Trading Standards, customers and the consumer affairs programme on BBC Northampton.
But a jury at Northampton Crown Court rejected his account and unanimously convicted him.
