Crackdown as extra officers drafted in after crime spree

SPECIALIST police officers have been drafted into Daventry to deal with a spate of crime that has hit the town.

Over the past nine days a total of 17 vehicles across the district have been targeted by gangs of criminals.

There have also been two house burglaries and one attempted burglary in the town, which has led to specialist intelligence officers from Northamptonshire Police’s Operation Guardian team being called in.

The seven officers are working alongside Daventry’s regular team to help stem the increasing crime trend, and five arrests have already been made.
