Countdown to popular village boats festival

ISLA St Clair and the Queen Mother’s piper will be at this year’s Crick Boat Show.

The annual show, now in its 13th year, runs over the jubilee weekend from June 2 to 5 and features entertainment, children’s activities, ghost tours and the chance to look around canal boats and pick up some bargains.

Publisher of Waterways World and show director Peter Johns said: “We are looking forward to a fantastic longer Crick Boat Show which coincides with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

“We hope many people will come along for a great day out by the water, with plenty of entertainment for all the family and the chance to discover more about inland waterways.”

As well as children’s entertainment, Crick Boat Show will feature food and drink stalls, competitions, food demonstrations, evening ghost tours, seminars, a marina full of new and historic boats to view, a heritage and wildlife activity area and over 200 exhibitors, from boat builders, waterway accessories and services to arts, crafts, holidays and gourmet food specialists.

The jubilee will be marked at the show with a number of special activities, including a ‘street party’, free flags and live screening of the ceremonies.

The entertainment will be hosted by Isla St Clair, folk singer and former Generation Game hostess.

Isla will perform alongside The Queen Mother’s former Scottish Piper and local brass bands.

The Show is open from 10am to 6pm every day except the Tuesday when it closes at 5pm.

Tickets can be bought in advance, saving up to 25 per cent on gate prices. Entry is free for under 5s.
