Record number of entries in photography competition

Judges reported that it was very difficult to select three winners from the different age categories, but in the end they decided on David Hollis, who won the over-18 category with his photo of an Artic tern in flight; Alex Goddard, 16, who won the 11 to 18 years category with his picture of a young bird; and 10-year-old Scarlett Pratt, who won the under-11s category with her image of a sundial taken at Canons Ashby.

The photographic society’s chairman John Lewis presented the trophies to the winners.

Michael Green of the society, who organised the competition, said: “This year we had a record number of entries and really struggled to choose a winner.

“Competition in the over-18s category was particularly fierce, with 75 entries, many of which were of a very high standard and, in another year, could easily have won.

“It is encouraging to see that the art of photography is very much alive and well in Daventry.”
