Pupils from Welton Academy, Abbey Academy, Newnham Primary School and Falconer’s Hill Academy took part in this year’s David Ross Education Trust (DRET) Summer Cup at Grantham Meres Stadium in Lincolnshire - a festival of sport that recognises and celebrates the talent and dedication of the trust’s sporting stars.

Other sporting heroes who were there on the day were Mark Lewis-Francis MBE, Marlon Devonish MBE, Beth Tweddle MBE - and the first DRET Olympian, Tom Jarvis, a Skegness Grammar School pupil who is competing in Rio this summer.

Colin Jackson, former Olympic hurdler and BBC commentator, interviewed pupils after their events and the footage was played on the largest TV screen in the UK. Colin said: “It was an immense pleasure to meet so many talented pupils who have the same enthusiasm for sport that I did at their age.”
