Emma Markham, adoptions manager for the Northampton branch of the RSPCA, said: “The majority of the animals in our care come via the inspectorate and have often been subjected to abandonment, cruelty, neglect or abuse.

“We also take in animals from local vets whose owners cannot afford the veterinary treatment, or they may be injured strays. We not only rescue these animals, but we rehabilitate them and get them ready for rehoming.”

Emma added: “We are a small local, independent charity who rely solely on public donations, and these are vital to help us continue with our work.

“We are now in the midst of ‘kitten season’ and have many kittens and cats looking for new homes. Unfortunately, the adult cats tend to get overlooked during this time.”
