Celebrities line up for charity weekend

A team of celebrities featuring TV actors, presenters and musicians will come to Daventry this month for a weekend of fundraising.

The Once Upon A Smile team will include Danny Miller from Emmerdale; Nico Mirallegro from My Mad Fat Diary, The Village and Hollyoaks; Luke Roskell from Emmerdale; Joe Gill Emmerdale; Marvyn Williams, Fashion show presenter; Reece Douglas, Ceallach Spellmann, Jack McMullan, and Dean Smith all from Waterloo Road; and Dan Jillings of Coronation Street, with more to be announced.

They will be in Daventry on the weekend of April 12 and 13.

The event has been organised by Daventry’s Terry O’Neill through his Football For Charity organisation.

He said: “Last year’s event was fantastic. The night before we did a night out and the stars were singing with the public and everyone was having a great time. The next day they went on to play the match.

“We’re hoping this year’s will be as good or better.

“Occasionally you get one or two celebs coming to Daventry, but not 20-odd like this.”

On Saturday, April 12, there will be a special event at Chasers in New Street, where people will get the chance to sing and dance with the stars. Tickets for that are £15.

The following day the Once Upon A Smile team will take to the pitch against the Daventry Anti-Soap XI at Communication Park in Browns Road.

Tickets for the match are £7 for adults, £5 for children, or £15 for VIPs. Tickets can be bought on the day – normal tickets at the turnstile and VIP ones in reception.

You can also buy a joint ticket to the Chasers event and a VIP ticket for the match for £25.

Once Upon A Smile works with families and children that have experienced bereavement, providing financial support and respite breaks and days out for children.

Businesses can also advertise in the programme and mascots are also still required. For more details visit the www.footballforcharity.com website.
